The Cultural Development Officer will be a pivotal role within the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Assam, under the Cultural Affairs Department. The primary responsibilities of this position include:
Developing and implementing cultural development programs and initiatives.
Promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Assam.
Coordinating cultural events, exhibitions, and workshops.
Collaborating with artists, cultural experts, and institutions.
Conducting research on cultural aspects and traditions.
Supporting cultural education and awareness programs.

Being a permanent resident of Assam.
Providing proof of residency, such as a Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC), Voter ID, or Employment Exchange Registration.

Bachelor’s Degree in Music (Vocal/Instrumental/Sattriya) from a recognized Music College or institute.
Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from a recognized College of Art & Craft or institute.
Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Studies from a recognized university or institute.
In addition to the minimum educational qualifications, candidates with the following qualifications will be given preference:
Adequate knowledge of the Cultural Heritage of the state of Assam.
Possession of certificates for National/State Level performances in cultural activities.

As of October 1, 2023, candidates must adhere to the following age requirements for the Cultural Development Officer position:
Minimum Age: 21 years
Maximum Age: 40 years
Age Relaxation:
5 years for SC/ST candidates (maximum age up to 45 years)
3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates (maximum age up to 43 years) as per Government Notification No. ABP, 612/2016/19 dated April 25, 2018.
10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) candidates, irrespective of category, as per Government Memorandum No. ABP 180/2017/105 dated January 7, 2019.
Candidates’ age will be calculated based on the date of birth/age mentioned in the Matriculation/HSLC Admit Card or Pass Certificate issued by a recognized Central/State Board/Council. No other document will be accepted in lieu of these mentioned documents.
APSC follows government guidelines regarding the reservation of posts for different categories. The reservation of posts for the Cultural Development Officer position is as follows:
Open Category: 28 posts
Other Backward Classes (OBC)/More Other Backward Classes (MOBC): 8 posts
Scheduled Caste (SC): 2 posts
Scheduled Tribe Plains (STP): 16 posts

The selected Cultural Development Officer will enjoy a competitive pay scale, grade pay, and other allowances as admissible to Assam State Government employees. The salary details are as follows:
Pay Scale: Rs. 14,000/- to Rs. 60,500/-
Grade Pay: Rs. 8,700/-
Pay Band: PB – 2

SC/ST/OBC/MOBC Category: Rs. 197.20 (Application Fee + Processing Fee)
