In an alarming incident, a retired Russian fighter jet participating in a Michigan air show crashed on a Sunday afternoon, leaving thousands of spectators, including children, in a state of shock.
The two individuals aboard the jet successfully ejected just before the aircraft went down shortly after 4 p.m. Upon impact with the ground, the plane erupted into a massive fireball, narrowly avoiding an apartment building in Van Buren Township and making contact with vehicles. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as emergency crews promptly intervened to extinguish the flames.
The ill-fated jet was partaking in the Yankee Air Museum’s Thunder over Michigan air show, held at Willow Run Airport near Ypsilanti – a city situated between Ann Arbor and Detroit.
